About Us
About Me
I'm a Sports Medicine Doctor and Assistant Professor, based at the IIUM Sports Medicine Clinic (ISMEC), Kuantan. I treat sports injuries and chronic joint pain, using ultrasound-guided procedures and structured rehabilitation to get you back to what you love doing.
You don't need to be an athlete to see me. If a joint, muscle or tendon problem is holding you back, that's my work.

The Team
Your physician, surgeon, physiotherapist and sports science officer work side by side for your recovery.
- Sports physicians — lead the medical assessment, diagnosis, and non-surgical management of injuries.
- Orthopaedic surgeons — involved when an injury needs a surgical opinion, including ACL reconstruction.
- Rehabilitation physicians — provide care for chronic injuries in patients with disability.
- Physiotherapists — deliver structured rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes.
- Sports science professionals — support conditioning, load management, and performance testing.
First Visit — what to expect
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Your IC, any previous clinic letters, scans or imaging reports (MRI, X-ray), and — if the injury is training-related — a short history of your training: what you were doing when it started, what makes it worse, what you have already tried.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to book. If you have a referral letter from a GP or another hospital, bring it — it adds context.
What happens at the first visit?
You tell the story of the injury; Dr Harith takes a structured history and examines the area. Most diagnoses start here, before any scan. If imaging is needed, it will be explained — what it is for, and what it will change about your plan.
Will I need surgery?
Not necessarily, and that decision is not made at the first visit without examination. Many injuries are managed without surgery. If a surgical opinion is genuinely needed, it happens within the same team — not as a referral into the unknown.
How long until I know what's wrong?
The assessment itself usually answers the "what is it" question on the day. The "how long until I'm back" question is answered honestly after examination — sometimes with imaging — and comes as a plan with stages, not a single guessed date.
What language will we speak in?
Whichever you prefer — English or Bahasa Malaysia. Clinical terms like ACL, ligamen, meniscus, rehab stay in their usual form in both.
