What to expect
What is ISMEC?
A specialist-led clinic in IIUM Kuantan Campus, offering sports injury treatment, chronic pain management and wellness programmes. You get private-centre service at an affordable rate.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Your IC, any referral letter or discharge summary (optional), and imaging reports (MRI, X-ray) if you have them.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to book. If you have a referral letter from a GP or another hospital, you may bring it.
What happens at the first visit?
You tell the story of the injury. Dr Harith takes a structured history and examines the area. Most diagnoses start here, before any scan. If imaging or a procedure is needed, it will be discussed with you.
Will I need surgery?
Not necessarily, and that decision is not made at the first visit without proper examination. Many injuries are managed without surgery. If a surgical opinion is genuinely needed, we will arrange for you to see the orthopaedic surgeons in ISMEC.
Can I use my guarantee letter?
ISMEC is a full paying patient service. A government guarantee letter does not apply here. However, a guarantee letter from companies registered with SASMEC @IIUM may be used. Please contact our clinic for confirmation.
